Col. 4th Regt. M.V.M., gs., was a merchant in 1850 census, lived in house with brother Elisha and next to father William.
Resided in his father's house, Hancock St., north of Cottage Ave. where he had an ink factory, perfume factory and type foundry. The house of Greek revival architecture, with one story columns and a cupola, and large green houses & orchards which were pulled down after the widow's death.

Paddleford Padleford, Paddleford, Paddlefort, Padlfort, Paddlefort, etc.

He came to Braintree about 1678, took the oath of allegiance here about that time, was occupant as tenant farmer of the "Alby Farm" on Edward Tyng grant of 250 acres in South Braintree along present Pond St. which had been sold to Judge Samuel Sewall's father in law John Hull. Sewall's Diary says on Mar.22,1685/6 "went to Braintree viewed Albie Farm & treated with Jonathan Paddleford about letting of it to him." Here he remained until about 1706 when he removed to Taunton where as early as 1701 he had resided part time.

He was elected surveyor of highways 1695, constable 1696, on the committee to seat the meeting house 1697, fenceviewer for Menatiquod 1700, surveyor again 1701, and tithingman 1706.

His wife was more than ten years his senior, had six children by her first husband, and one by Jonathan Paddleford. Hannah wife of Jonathan Paddleford was admitted to full communion at church Dec.21,1684.

"Jonathan, Catherin, Hannah, Patience, the children of Hannah Paddleforth, the three daughters she had by Samuel Hayden." were baptized Jul.10,1685 and "Susanna Heyden and Sarah Wild, daughters of Hannah Paddleford" were baptized and owned the covenant May 8,1692.
