Dr. Ebenezer Alden's Randolph Sketches (1857) says he went to R.I.
He resided on part of his father's land which with a house was sold to him in 1740 (S.D. ..) on the south side of Liberty St. near North St., Randolph. Lived near the place of the late Goddard Reed says Dr. Alden in 1857, & was admitted to church Jun.29,1735 and dismissed to a Seventh Day Baptist Church in R.I. Jun.21,1738.

S.P.46-402, Jul.10,1752, Ezra Niles, over 14, son of Increase, late of Braintree, physician, chooses Samuel Bass, yeoman, as guardian in the part of estate of grandfather John Niles, deceased, that accrues to me.

46-217 - Susanna Niles, over 14, daughter of Increase, physician, also chooses Samuel Bass for same reason, Jul.24,1752.

46-432, Jul.24,1752, Samuel Bass made guardian of John Niles, under 14, son of Increase Niles, physician, deceased, of Braintree. Says John Niles & is indexed as John Niles, but probably should read Joseph.

57-389, Dec.12,1760, James Faxon made guardian to Joseph Nyles, over 14, son of Increase Niles late of Braintree, deceased, & bonded with Ezra Faxon (sic) (?Azariah Faxon?) (There was no Ezra Faxon and Ezra Niles was dead).

He held "many offices of public trust, as town Clerk & Treasurer he served twenty three years successively and continued in said offices till the day of his death which was July 1,1776" says the town record. He resided at his father's farm "Beersheba" at the present site of Norfolk Co. Hospital until his father's death in 1762 after which he probably resided in the former parsonage on Elm St. some of the time. Since he was buried at Dyer Hill Cem. he was evidently residing in Braintree Highlands at his decease. The old house there was standing until near 1900. The site is now marked by huge lilac bushes to the right of the front entrance to the hospital buildings (1950).
Dr. Alden says he lived where John Holbrook who married his step daughter Anna Wild lived afterwards.
