He resided on Liberty St, east side in a house still standing (1950), purchased 1763 of Daniel Nash (S.D. 110-33) and owned by his descendants until recently at least, known usually as the Ezra Penniman house, or Vinton, or Cutting place. It stands just south of Grove St. on Liberty St., a two story salt box type house. The Penniman or Cutting Tomb stood on the north side of Grove St., and was removed about 1940 when Liberty St. was widened there at the intersection. He was elected warden 1781, surveyor for Middle Precinct 1789 but was excused.

James Penniman owned the covenant at First Church (Quincy) Mar.16,1707, had son William bapt. same day.
James Penniman resided on the Thomas3 Thayer homestead on Middle St., Braintree north of River St., west side, which his widow Abigail (Penniman) White sold 1727 to her son William Penniman. No settlement of James Penniman's estate is on record. First resided in the John Adams birthplace, now standing, removed to Middle St. about 1720 when he sold to Dea. John Adams. He held numerous town offices.

child "Timothy".....bapt. Feb.13,1708/9 at Braintree by Rev. P. Thacher - Milton Ch. Rec. (Register Vol.22, p.441), "son of - Penniman, Dea. Penniman's grand child." This must refer to James, born Dec.1,1708 whose baptism is not otherwise found.
