Graduated at Yale 1851 and from Harvard Law School. District Attorney for S.E. Mass. 1870-1882. Judge of the Court of Alabama Claims at Washington, etc. 1882-1885.
He built a house on the ancestral estate on Washington St. where the Town Library now is (1955) (Demolished 1937).

(one of his daughters was Mrs. E.F. Sewell of Brookline in 1935).

Resided in Randolph on No. Main St. on the Wales estate.
Graduated at Yale 1882 and from Boston University Law School; taught Latin & French one year at Thayer Academy, clerk to the judge in Court of Commissions of Alabama Claims for two years, District Attorney of Southeastern District of Mass. 1901-1906 and U.S. Attorney for District of Mass. 1906-1914, President of Randolph Savings Bank, President of Board of Trustees of Thayer Academy.

He was a surveyor and laid out many of the townships in eastern Maine about 1788-90, says the Vinton Memorial.
Resided on the S.E. corner of Washington & Union Sts. He was elected hogreave 1755, constable 1756,1759 but excused,1763,1764, fire warden 1763-6,1768-1771, fenceviewer 1767,1775, on the Fish Com. 1768,1770-2,1774,1776,1779,1781, warden 1769,1772, tithingman 1774, Com. of Observation & Inspection 1775, assizor of bread 1776, committee of safety 1778, Com. for hiring men 1780, Town Clerk & Treasurer 1781-1786, Moderator 1788,1789,1792. Rev. Soldier & School Teacher.

died "Thomas Esq."
Capt. Thomas French was constable 1780, warden 1781,1784,1787 but did not serve then and surveyor of highways 1791 for So. Precinct.
He built the "Jonathan Wale" house that stood until 1927 on E. side of No. Main St. just south of the R.R. bridge at Randolph. He was Representative 1805,1807-9. Dr. Alden says he was a tanner and pioneer shoemaker, manufactured for towns in N.H., Vermont, & Canada. Was called "Square French."
