If you weren't able to find what you wanted on our Shop shelves, dig into our Book Stacks. These books are destined to take their places on our Shop Shelves but they are still being prepared. We'll happily expedite the preparation of any book(s) on request.
Book Condition Ratings
The books we are offering are from the extensive library of a bibliophile and have been very well cared for. Many, especially the technical ones, are like new. Others show wear and tear from repeated reading. We strive to provide you accurate information on the condition of our books, pointing out any defects we observe in the item's description. We rate them for suitability in their intended purpose, being read.
We use stock photo sparingly, typically just for Mass Market Paperback books. At our low price it's hard to justify the time (If no stock photo is available, we do photograph paperbacks). For all other books, we provide multiple photos to help you assess the book's condition.
Our book rating categories are:
- Near Pristine - Book is in almost new condition, clean, little evidence of reading, spine still has that new book feel when opened.
- Very Fine - Shows little evidence of reading, but not quite in Near Pristine condition (spine no longer has that new book feel).
- Fine - Book shows some evidence of repeated reading, clean, spine intact.
- Good - Book is well read, with intact spine and no loose or torn pages.
- Fair - Book has seen a lot of use, spine may have cracks or breaks, some pages may be loose or torn, but all are present.
The dust jacket for hardcovers are rated separately, and are generally rated lower than the books. That's the dust jacket's job isn't it, to valiantly sacrifice itself to protect the book. No dust jacket means the book never had one in most cases. If we know the book once had a dust jacket, the description will state it is missing.
Some of the computer books came with companion disks, generally floppy disks. We will note in the description if the disk is included with the book or it is missing and not included.
Some books may carry our embossed personal library stamp or have a name written on the inside cover. This is not generally mentioned in our book description. If this is a concern for you, please inquire and we will check the book. We will inform you in the book description if there is any other writing, highlighting, etc. in the book.
We take care to give you a book in the best possible condition, dusting and gently cleaning each book before it is photographed and again before shipping.
