Synopsis:
Why sound like everyone else, or compromise with a setup that's less than optimum? Let this book provide you with the tools needed to fully unlock your instrument's potential.
A collection of 35 useful, inexpensive, educational projects designed by Guitar Player magazine consulting editor Craig Anderton.
Whether you are looking for a great-sounding tube preamp, a de-hisser for vintage effects, cool guitar rewirings, a fatter sound, a cord tester that catches intermittent problems, some adaptors to interface with studio gear, or any of several other problem-solving or sound-improving devices, this book has the answers.
It also includes chapters on how to read schematics, and construction tips.
Among guitar equipment writers, Anderton is The Man, El Primo...[he's the world's number one high tech guitar gear writer."
-Tom Wheeler, Cuitar Player Magazine
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
On this 10th birthday, Craig Anderton received a guitar from his parents and a transistor radio kit from his grandmother, and since then has split his life between the technical an artistic. He recorded three albums with the 60s group Mandrake, produced three album by classical guitarist Linda Cohen, did session work in New York, played on/mixed recordings by new age artists David Arkenstone and Spencer Brewer, and released a solo instrumental album (Forward Motion, distributed by MCA) in 1989.
A prolific author who is seldom seen without a notebook computer, Craig has authored articles for magazines such as Guitar Player, Keyboard, EQ, Rolling Stone, Mix, and Byte. He coined the term "electronic musician" and edited the magazine bearing that name for the first five years of its existence. He has written numerous books on musical electronics, including Electronic Projects for Musicians, The Electronic Musician's Dictionary, and Home Recording for Musicians. He also co-authored Digital Projects for Musicians.
In addition to serving as Consulting Editor to Guitar Player magazine and Technology Editor for EQ, lately Craig is much in demand as a lecturer-work that has taken him to over 23 states and 7 countries. He also consults to manufacturers in the music business and is responsible for some of the sounds you hear coming out of various instruments, as well as some of their design features.
